So let's get to the parade, shall we?
There were so many parades to choose from around here. Seems like each town and city had it's own parade, and they all started at about the same time. We heard on the news that the Provo parade is one of the biggest Fourth of July parades in the country. Like, crazy people camping out overnight big. Since we like to do our camping in the woods, we opted to go to one of the smaller hometown parades in our area.
We left the house about an hour before the parade started, and we found some really good seats that didn't require us to walk a mile to get there.
Waiting for the action to start.
The flyover.
The beginning.
Besides all the candy he was picking up, I think Brennan's favorite part of the parade were all the fire trucks.
Highlands Pipers and Drums
Motorcycles
Floats
Horses
I thought this one was pretty cool. I'd never seen a horse quite like that before.
Big Eagle. Another of Brennan's favorites.
Roller Derby Girls. I've only seen roller derby on TV. We're going to have to go check them out.
Brennan was so cute. He waved the whole time. Well, when he wasn't occupied by picking up candy.
After we got home, Brennan had a candy-induced meltdown and got put in timeout.
While he was there he fell asleep. : ) We just let him sleep, and he ending up taking a nap for almost 3 hours! It worked out pretty well since we were staying up so late for the fireworks.
When he woke up he was back to his normal self.
Always the big helper.
While we were outside grilling, Jason struck his flyswatter edition of the He-Man pose. "I have the power!"
There is a story behind that. Earlier in the week, Brennan told me he had to give Daddy the power. I had no idea what he was talking about, but I said, "OK, go give it to him." He said no, that we had to go upstairs and get it. I still thought he was pretending, and whatever he was going to bring back would be pretend, like when he brings us invisible food to eat, so I just opened the gate and let him get the "power." When he came back down he brought down a bottle of my conditioner. Ha! Jason played along and wielded the conditioner bottle like the He-Man sword. Yesterday, I tried to put the conditioner away. Yeah, that only lasted about an hour. Brennan was pretty upset that I put away Daddy's power! So as of this moment, Moisture Renewal conditioner has become a part of my living room decor. Crazy kid!
Copper seems concerned. He can't handle the power.
Checking out the fireworks.
I just realized there wasn't one single picture of me in this whole batch. Part of being the Mommy, I guess.
One shot of the fireworks.
The fireworks display lasted over a half an hour, but I decided this year I was just going to sit back and enjoy the show in its entirety instead of seeing it through my camera lense. It was a nice change!
And that's that. I still can't believe it's already July. Time just goes by so fast. This weekend we have some more fun on the agenda, as long as the rain doesn't get us. And our vacation is coming up soon!
