A Great Weekend - Part 2

So let's get to the parade, shall we?

There were so many parades to choose from around here.  Seems like each town and city had it's own parade, and they all started at about the same time.  We heard on the news that the Provo parade is one of the biggest Fourth of July parades in the country.  Like, crazy people camping out overnight big.  Since we like to do our camping in the woods, we opted to go to one of the smaller hometown parades in our area.

We left the house about an hour before the parade started, and we found some really good seats that didn't require us to walk a mile to get there.

Waiting for the action to start.

Besides all the candy he was picking up, I think Brennan's favorite part of the parade were all the fire trucks.

I thought this one was pretty cool.  I'd never seen a horse quite like that before.

Big Eagle. Another of Brennan's favorites.

Roller Derby Girls.  I've only seen roller derby on TV.  We're going to have to go check them out.

Brennan was so cute.  He waved the whole time.  Well, when he wasn't occupied by picking up candy.

After we got home, Brennan had a candy-induced meltdown and got put in timeout.
Time Out Turns Nap
While he was there he fell asleep. : )  We just let him sleep, and he ending up taking a nap for almost 3 hours! It worked out pretty well since we were staying up so late for the fireworks.

When he woke up he was back to his normal self.

Helping Daddy

While we were outside grilling, Jason struck his flyswatter edition of the He-Man pose.  "I have the power!"
I Have the Power - Flyswatter Edition
There is a story behind that.  Earlier in the week, Brennan told me he had to give Daddy the power.  I had no idea what he was talking about, but I said, "OK, go give it to him."  He said no, that we had to go upstairs and get it.  I still thought he was pretending, and whatever he was going to bring back would be pretend, like when he brings us invisible food to eat, so I just opened the gate and let him get the "power."  When he came back down he brought down a bottle of my conditioner.  Ha!  Jason played along and wielded the conditioner  bottle like the He-Man sword.  Yesterday, I tried to put the conditioner away.  Yeah, that only lasted about an hour.  Brennan was pretty upset that I put away Daddy's power!  So as of this moment, Moisture Renewal conditioner has become a part of my living room decor. Crazy kid!

Copper seems concerned.  He can't handle the power.

Checking out the fireworks.
Fireworks
I just realized there wasn't one single picture of me in this whole batch.  Part of being the Mommy, I guess.

One shot of the fireworks.
Pretty!
The fireworks display lasted over a half an hour, but I decided this year I was just going to sit back and enjoy the show in its entirety instead of seeing it through my camera lense.  It was a nice change!

And that's that.  I still can't believe it's already July.  Time just goes by so fast.  This weekend we have some more fun on the agenda, as long as the rain doesn't get us.  And our vacation is coming up soon!

A Great Weekend - Part 1

We had a great 4th of July weekend.  I hope you did, too!  We kept it pretty low key and relaxed.  It helps that we can see several of the local towns' fireworks displays from our  backyard so we didn't have to go anywhere.  And since the fireworks didn't start until 10:00 and Jason had to be up bright and early Tuesday for work, it made it all the better.

Friday was a base family day, so our weekend actually started Thursday night.  We headed down to the Motor-Vu to see Cars 2 and the new Pirates of the Caribbean.  It was Brennan first time at a "big, big movie."

He loved the popcorn.  There was about a 1/4 of a bag left at the end of the night, and he ate most of it himself. : )

Brennan stayed awake through all of Cars and was all into there being another movie.  Yeah, after the intermission, he didn't even make it through the Pirates previews.  Jason and I watched about an hour of the movie, then realized that if Brennan was sleeping so well while we were watching the movie, (that wouldn't be over until 3:30 in the morning) then he was going to be all awake and ready to go at about 6:30, and we were going to be dragging you-know-what.  So with that in mind, we headed back to the house, and decided we would just wait to see the rest of the movie when it came out on DVD.

Friday we ran all our our errands and did what work needed to be done around the house so we could have fun all weekend.  I went to Walmart and the Commissary (by myself!) in the morning, and then after I got home Jason and Brennan worked on cleaning up the jeep.
Washing the Jeep
We waxed it after it was all done, but I don't have any pictures of that because I was part of the "wax on - wax off" crew.  It was all shiny and pretty when we were done!

OK, I said we got all the work done on Friday, but I just remembered Jason had to do the yard work on Saturday morning.  He didn't want to throw off his schedule. : )

Brennan didn't mind.  It gave him extra time for some big wheelin'.

Sunday night we grilled out, and made s'mores.

Brennan thought the s'mores were pretty tasty.

After bath time, Brennan spotted a fireworks preview.

Then it was time for some snugglin'.  We were watching the original Cars.  Brennan didn't make it 'til the end this time.

I had fun making these.  I'm glad there was only three of us though, or everyone's french toast would have been cold!

Brennan is so proud of his flag shirt.

Later that morning we went to the parade, but since since this post has gotten pretty long, and my stomach is telling me it's lunchtime, I'll save the rest of the story for tomorrow.
