A Little Light Reading?

While I was taking a shower this morning, someone was wreaking havoc in the living room.
Brennan in the Books
Don't let the smile fool you.  He's definitely a Master of Havoc.

He said he was looking for the planet book.
Empty Bookcase
Apparently, he thought I might have hid it under all the other books.

Hmmm...that looks like the planet book.
Planet book
Funny, it was in the bookcase in his room, where it always lives.

Since his search for cosmic knowledge was unsuccessful, he settled for a football book.

At least he loves to read, right? : )

Pumpkin Time

Is it pumpkin time yet?
Funny Glasses
That's been Brennan's question every day.  Pumpkin time (aka Halloween) is a pretty big deal this year.  He remembers all the fun stuff we did last year, and can't wait for it to happen again!  We have his costume all ready, he's already got one Halloween treat bag at school, and we have a Fall Festival to go to this evening.  Yay, pumpkin time!

The anticipation is even worse because we put up our Halloween decorations over the weekend.  It's looking all kinds of festive around here!

Here's our mantel this year.  Most of it is the same as last year, except those pumpkin trees on the ends.  I found those at the Target Dollar Spot, AKA: The $2.50 Can't Walk Away Without Buying 4...5...6... Things Which Makes it at least the $10 Spot.  Or is that just me?

These pumpkin wands are new.  I saw this Pumpkins on a Stick post over at Sweet Something Designs, and I  had to cute-ify some for myself.

Felt Banner
I made this banner from some felt bags.  I've had the bags for years and it was time they became something useful.  I originally got them for secret pal and boo presents, but they never seem to hold enough stuff.  A couple of cuts and some hot glue, and ta da, now we have a Halloween banner.

And there you have our Halloween tour.  I left out a couple of areas, but you get the idea.  I bought mums way too early and they are already dead and there are places inside my house that are too cluttered to be photographed for posterity.  I thought I would spare you those scary scenes.  Nice of me, right?

Have a great weekend!

Chloe

First of all, Happy October Everyone!  We have been putting up Halloween and Fall decorations the past couple days.  It's starting to feel festive around here!

We also have the excitement of a new puppy!  We picked up our new buddy over the weekend.  As you can see, she's already made herself right at home.

She absolutely loves Brennan!
Snuggled In

Brennan's been sick since the evening we got home from picking her up.  He missed school yesterday, and he will be missing soccer tonight.  Right now he's laying on the couch with Chloe about ready to drift off to sleep.  Poor little guy.

Last night she slept the whole night.

Though, it was in our bed! : (

We're working on crate training her, but as of right now, she's not too fond of it.

We're also going through the great fun of potty training.  She's done pretty good until today.  It was raining all morning, and apparently she can't bring herself to pee out in the rain, but prefers to come back inside and use the carpet.  All I can say is she better get over her inclement weather issues fast considering we are going into frozen tundra season, and thank goodness we just got a carpet shampooer!

Have a great week!

Kid Stuff - Green Volcano

The other day Brennan and I watched the movie Ice Age.
Ice age

While it's not our favorite movie, Brennan kept talking about the volcano at the end.  It was still on his mind hours later, so I decided to go with that thought, and make our own volcano.

I'm sure everyone knows how to make a baking soda-vinegar volcano - baking soda in a cup + pour in vinegar = mini-eruption. Brennan decided he wanted a green volcano, so I mixed some green food coloring in with the vinegar.

I'm glad one of our shot glasses was able to get some action for this project.  They've been neglected in the cabinet for a long, long time. : )

Bubble, bubble.

Fun stuff.  Now Brennan wants to make a volcano everyday.

Surprisingly, we're all out of vinegar.

Take Me Out To The Ballgame

A few weeks ago we went to a baseball game.  Ogden, a town nearby has a Minor League team, the Ogden Raptors.  It was Military Appreciation weekend, so we decided to go check them out.

We got seats in the back row of our section.  One, to have a backrest, two, so there were fewer people that our wiggley-butt 3-year-old could bother.

Vacation Favorites

I know, seems like really old news, and those of you who are my friends on facebook have already seen most of these pictures ages ago, but I said I was going to post them, so here goes.

First just let me say, we all absolutely loved Washington.  As in, when can we move on up - LOVE.  There is so much to do and see, the people were so friendly, and the weather was wonderful.  I know I might change my mind in the rainy season, but while we were there it was great.

Here was the cabin we stayed in during our stay.

As much as we would have just loved to stay at the cabin the whole time, we did get out and see some of the area.

And you should know, that aside from First Beach all of these other beaches required a hike to get to them.

The trails all looked like this.

And then you have to climb over lots of logs, obstacle-course-style, to get to the sand.

Well, there you go, our vacation has (finally!) been blogged.  I have tons more pictures, but I'm sure you were thinking enough already a few scrolls back!

If you've made it to the end I hope you have a great weekend!
