Yay! We did it again!
Yard of the Month for June!
This is our third time as Yard of the Month winners, one for each base we've lived on. : )
At the end of the month, we get presented something (I don't know what), and then we are entered into the Yard of the Year competition.
Curb Appeal
I am proud of this area. Besides the lavender bush, everything else is new. While Jason was in Colorado I dug and pulled out a scruffy juniper bush and another tree/bush (with a massive root system!) so I could plant some pretties. Brennan loves those yellow calla lilies. It's hard to keep him from picking them every time we go outside.
The lawn
The flowers
I planted peonies and lilies in the flower bed as well, but they never came up. Maybe next year.
Our strawberry plant. Or "straw-boggies" in Brennan lingo.
A little visitor.
Actually, it was pretty huge. It hung out with us outside all evening. : )
Happy First Day of Summer!

A New Pedal Bike
This weekend we went to Savers to donate the mountain of stuff I cleared out of the house while Jason was in Colorado. While we were there I had to go inside to find some more supplies for a project I am working on. After I had found the things I needed and we got to the front to check out, we found a little boy's bike sitting in the front window. Jason looked it over. It was in perfect shape and it was only $7.00, so, yeah, it came home with us, too.
After we left Savers, we headed to Walmart to buy training wheels and a helmet.
FYI, the training wheels cost more than the bike, and the helmet cost more than the bike and the training wheels together, but everything was still less than a brand new bike, so we were happy. :)
Brennan was beyond excited. He had to hold his helmet on the trip home, and then he insisted on wearing it as soon as I got it out of the package. He couldn't wait to ride his new "pedal bike."
He did end up having to wait a little bit...he wasn't taking off that helmet, though. : )
Helping Daddy air up the tires.
And putting on the training wheels.
Brennan was happy to hold (and rearrange) the tools.
After it was all put together, we washed it all up. (I know it's a boy's bike, and it's going to get dirty anyway, but I have OCD about such things.)
Also notice it was warm that day. - i.e. I got to wear my flip flops!!
Time to ride!
At first it was pretty slow going. Brennan has a Big Wheel that he can pedal, so we thought he would take right off, but it took a couple trips down the block to get the swing of it.
It didn't take long and he was cruising along at a less turtle-like speed.
By the way, that is not our yard. Jason would be pretty upset if you all thought his lawn would ever look like that. : )
Zoom-zoom!
Daddy had to stay pretty close. Brennan's not the best steerer yet, and we had to go past a house with big (thorny) rose bushes.
He's so proud of his new big boy pedal bike.
Oh, and that is our yard. : ) More coming up about that soon!

We Have a Little Graduate
Yesterday was Brennan's preschool graduation. Obviously he doesn't understand what a graduation is, because this morning he asked if he was going to school today. I don't know how he's going to make it through summer! Actually, it won't be too bad, we have him signed up for some day camps throughout June and July, (and we have our big vacation in July!) so he will have some fun things to do.
Too bad they don't have a stage at school...or some bleachers. They had chairs set up for all the adults, but since the kids aren't any taller than the chairs, it was hard to see anything if you had to sit anywhere but the front row. We found aisle seats a couple rows back, but we spent most of the time just standing.
This is one of the school owners giving a speech. It looks like Brennan wanted to be in the spotlight, too. : )
I'm sure I've mentioned before that Brennan was the only boy in his class. He was so cute sitting up there with all the girls. They did a nursery rhyme presentation where everybody got to act out a part. Brennan got to end the skit as Old Mother Hubbard's Dog.
Brennan's piano recital. I wish I would have recorded it.
He even took a bow at the end. I was too slow, so I didn't get a picture, but he was so cute!
A couple more presentations.
Playing Bells.
Singing a Song.
Getting his metal.
And his diploma.
We had to get a picture with his teacher, Ms. Jensen. We are sure going to miss her next year!
The happy little graduate.
Some of his happiness was a result of getting a popsicle after the ceremony!
Though he was all about the popsicle, he did sit still long enough to take a picture with Mommy and Daddy.
After we left school we had to stop by Jason's office for a few minutes, then we took the little graduate out for a celebration meal. He chose McDonald's, of course. : ) After that we headed to the park and had some fun playing there. Fun, fun day!
Congratulations Brennan!
